The Wedding Singer, a delightful comedy starring Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler. Set in 1985, Sandler plays a wedding singer who is jilted at the altar. He and Barrymore, a waitress at the reception hall where Sandler performs, become friends and he even double dates with Drew and her fiancé, but their feelings for each other soon become confused. Who will end up marrying who? Billy Idol fans will love his cameo, and of course Idol's "White Wedding" is part of the soundtrack.

MONDAY, JULY 15TH: BUENA VISTA SOCIAL CLUB

To celebrate the Jazz Series' presentation of the Orquesta Buena Vista Social Club, Movie Mondays screens the film of the same name. This 1999 Oscar® -nominated documentary by Wim Wenders follows his friend, Ry Cooder, who visited Cuba to record an album with some of the country's legendary musicians from the 1940s and '50s. The film documents the musicians on their home turf, playing in cafes and clubs, as well as the group's concerts in New York City and Amsterdam, marking the first time many of them had traveled outside Cuba. This is a joyous celebration of the vitality and energy of Cuban music.

MONDAY, JULY 22ND: THE LION KING

No matter how many times you've popped in a Lion King DVD to watch, it's a whole new film when you see it on a big screen. Children and adults alike love this film about a lion prince named Simba whose kingdom is stolen by a wicked uncle, and Simba's efforts to regain his heritage and bring peace and prosperity back to his land. The list of Hollywood actors voicing the characters includes Matthew Broderick, James Earl Jones, Jeremy Irons, Whoopi Goldberg, Nathan Lane and Cheech Marin. MONDAY, JULY 29TH: PHANTOM OF THE OPERA

It might surprise some that The Phantom of the Opera was originally a novel written in 1910; many fans of the Broadway show know it only as Andrew Lloyd Webber's blockbuster musical. Lloyd Webber was also behind a film version of the musical in 2004 that received lavish praise and Oscar nominations for the acting and the lush sets and costumes. Starring Gerard Butler as the Phantom and Emmy Rossum as Christine, everything about this movie is big and romantic, including the famous chandelier. Bring your red rose.

MONDAY, AUGUST 5TH: EVITA

The series ends with another Lloyd Webber musical classic-turned-film, Evita, starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. This telling of the story of Eva Peron, who rose from poverty to become first lady of Argentina and died at age 33, is a musical powerhouse. It was filmed on location in Buenos Aires, including at the presidential palace, Casa Rosada, and of course has everyone's favorite song, "Don't Cry for Me Argentina."
